Caring for your Nappies

Before you use your nappies be sure to read these Care Instructions to get the best performance out of your cloth nappy system

• It is important to wash your new nappies a few times before use to increase the absorbency of the towelling.

• Always use a liner when using barrier creams or balms as these can coat the fibres in your nappy reducing their absorbency. It is also a no fuss way to collect the solids and makes easier cleaning of the nappy.

• Do not use chlorine bleach or any other soakers containing oxygen bleach, with regular use of these products they can damage the elastic in your nappies and wraps and will shorten the lifespan of them. Line dry wherever possible as sunshine is the best whitener of all.

• Do not use laundry powders containing Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) as this will deteriorate your nappies and void your warranty.

• Bicarbonate of soda and any acid (i.e. Vinegar) when heated in a solution corrodes cotton and bamboo fibres and will drastically shorten the lifespan of your nappy.

• To protect your nappies from getting caught up in the wash, fold back the aplix tabs on your nappies before placing them in the machine.

• We recommend using a our natural laundry liquid as this is better for both baby and the environment and gentle on your nappies. It is concentrated so you only need about one to two tablespoons depending on the size of your wash.

• Do not use fabric softeners as these leave a residue and decrease the absorbency of the towelling.

• Machine wash in warm water at 40-60°C depending on the wash care label, however washing in cold water is also fine.

• You can tumble dry the nappies on a cool setting if needed, but we recommend line drying wherever possible.
